I'm Erica,
nice to meet you.

I'm a User Experience Designer that's all about finding insightful solutions to everyday problems. My work is centered around crafting delightful experiences through user-centered research, streamlined design processes, and open-minded collaboration.

Beyond design, my interests include traveling, watching a good action movie, and eating my favorite candy Haribo gummi bears.

A Little Bit About Me

It begins with fabric scraps and crayons

My design journey started when I was a little girl at the footstool of my grandmother's sewing machine. I would pick up all the fabric scraps on the floor and make my doll clothes from whatever pieces of fabric that I could find, or I would sketch on paper the designs that I had envisioned in my head.

It was nothing for me to be in a quiet corner somewhere drawing till my heart's content or coloring with a box of Crayola crayons. Back then life was simple, and all I wanted to do was draw and figure out how I could make the latest and greatest scrappy outfit for my dolls.

I always knew what I wanted to do when I grew up, there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to do something in design. I just didn't know what or where it would take me, but I was eager and willing to find out.

Time to change directions

Fast forward and 18 years later in the fashion and apparel industry, it was time for me to change directions towards a new career in the tech industry. And while searching for my next career, I stumbled upon a UX/UI Design program with Thinkful that piqued my interest and curiosity.

After a lot of research about UX Design, I learned this is an enormous career field, where there is something for everybody no matter your background. This is why I decided that UX Design would be the right career field for me, as it would be a way for me to combine my creativity and innate desire to solve problems for people by providing the best experience through the products that I create.

Keep learning and stay curious

Creating and designing things has always been a part of my DNA, as I’ve always been fascinated with technology, and how the principles of design from a simple pen and paper sketch can be transformed into something beautiful and unique to solve everyday problems with the click of a mouse.

While design means something different to every designer, every designer has a story to tell, which is why I believe that if we never stop learning from others, stay curious about the things around us, and follow our dreams then the unlocked potential inside of us all will always lead to a path to success.

So, what is your story? I'm listening......
